Rotary Gala
The Rotary Gala is our major fundraiser. We all want to help our community, whether it is local or worldwide, and to do this we need to have money available. The Gala is scheduled for April 24 at Holiday Acres. We will need every Rotarian's efforts to make this successful. We ask that each member contact at least one business for a donation for the Gala auctions. Each member is also encouraged to donate an item. I left last year's donations on the website, so check it out for an idea of some of the items we had. As soon as people start signing up to contact certain businesses, I'll delete the list of last year's donations so it doesn't get mixed up with this year's. All you have to do is log into the "Members Only" area and then click on "2010 Gala Auction Items." If you're going to contact a business, please email me at hschallock@wjfw.com so I can add your name to the website. This is an easy way to avoid having several Rotarians calling the same business more than once. Remember, we do silent and live auctions and need plenty of donations.
In addition, help is needed to plan, organize, set up, check out, and clean up. We also need one member to step up and co-chair the event this year and chair the event next year. Time is short. Please check your schedule and call Kathy Shaltis at 362-7878 to sign up for a committee or to be the co-chair. Don't forget to mark your calendar for April 24 so you can be at this fun event.
Rotary Youth Exchange
Our recently selected outbound students for the RYE program have found out the country where they will spend a year abroad. Andrew Kroll will be going to the Faroe Islands, a group of 18 islands between Iceland and the Shetland Islands, and Sarah Zunk will be studying in Denmark. Both students are excited and will be learning their respective languages and all they can about their host countries.
Luke Lenard and Luke Wegehaupt are half way through their respective exchange years. From all correspondence that has been received, they are both doing well and looking forward to their remaining 5 months.
Interact Club
The RHS Interact Club spent a Monday evening recently at the Friendly Village Nursing Home helping with a session of bingo. A good time was had by both the residents and the students!
If you have any volunteer opportunities for the Interact Club, please let Chris Lenard know.
If you would like to sponsor doughnuts and juice for an upcoming Thursday morning Interact meeting, please contact Chris Lenard. Cost is $20.00 and will be greatly appreciated by all of our students (Future Rotarians?). Thanks to John O'melia, Tim Thorsen and Chris Lenard for their past donations.
