Hello Fellow Rotarians,

The first month of the new year is already behind us, but we have some busy months ahead.  As always, please forward comments, corrections, and updates to me.  If there's something you would like to see added to our newsletter or website, please don't hesitate to let me or any board member know.

Thanks,

Heather

Club News

Outbound RYE Students

Luke Weggehaupt and Luke Lenard, our two outbound RYE students departing this summer, will be attending the Winter RYE Conference to be held in Wausau this February 6th-8th. The better prepared they are, they more they'll be able to overcome any problems they encounter on their exchange.

Spring Gala

Monica Hilt is coordinating this year's event.  New Rotarian, Chris Dries, has volunteered to co-chair.  Chris has also volunteered to head the committee concerning our combined community project involvement with the Kiwanis and Lions Club. Thank you Chris!

Mark your calendar now for the annual Spring Gala dinner and fundraiser on April 18th, 2009 at the Holiday Acres Resort.  Monica and Chris will let us know how we can help, but you can always contact them to volunteer.  The more people who help, the less work there wil be for everyone.

Allocations

Gina Scheuer and the Allocations Committee have recommended, and the board approved, donations of $500.00 each to Corky Stoxen to help maintain the SHARPS disposal effort here in Oneida County and Jim Klaric representing the Habitat for Humanity Northwoods home building program. Presentations of these checks will occur in February during a regular meeting.

International Projects

Thank you to Dan Kuzlik and Kevin Jenkins for doing interviews with Newswatch 12 about the Rotary Projects in Peru and Tanzania.  If you didn't see the story that aired on January 28th, you can still watch it on www.wjfw.com.  Just click on "Launch Video Center" on the home page, click on "Local News," and do a search for "Rotary."

A big thank you to Kevin Jenkins for creating an "International Projects" page on our website.  Be sure to check it out.  You'll find detailed information about our two international projects.

Meeting Location Vote

The change of venue vote conducted over a two week period in December tallied 24 votes to remain at the Claridge, with 17 votes in favor of moving, and 6 neutral votes. The board has decided to remain at the Claridge for the time being with plenty of feedback to management in order to address concerns and needs of the membership.
