Sawmill Project Update Sep 13, 2008 Rotarian Tim Thorsen hard at work at the sawmill museum project. Matching Grant Sep 8, 2008 Tim Thorsen presents a $5,000.00 matching grant the Rhinelander Rotary Club received from our local district 6220. The matching grant dollars will be applied toward the ongoing Marquardt Sawmill project located in Pioneer Park, which has been sponsored in part by the Rhinelander Rotary Club. In addition to the monetary contributions, the project has included many hours of service building the structure which will hold the latest addition to the Rhinelander Logging Museum. Northern Arts Council Donation Aug 25, 2008 Gina Scheuer presents Michele Riopel with a $500 donation for the Northern Arts Council. The Northern Arts Council was founded in 1964 to encourage broader participation in the arts and to promote awareness of arts programs in the area. Ferdinand Woehr Arrives from Germany Aug 12, 2008 Ferdi Woehr is our Rotary Club's Foreign Exchange Student. He is from a small town called koster Schoental, which is in the German Province of Baden-Wurttemberg in the southwest part of Germany near Bavaria. His plane landed at the Central Wisconsin Airport on August 12, 2008. Ed Mouw returns to USA Aug 11, 2008 Rotarian Ed Mouw returned from a long vacation in England. He brought back a flag from a Rotary Club there to present to our club. Carla Leaves Rhinelander and Returns Home Aug 6, 2008 Carla left the Northwoods from the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport. Logging Museum Donation Aug 4, 2008 Rotary presents the first payment of $5,000 to Old Rhinelander Inc. and the Red & Mae Marquardt family for the Marquardt Sawmill project at the Rhinelander Logging Museum. In total, the Rhinelander Rotary Club will allocate $15,000. Check Presentation to Rhinelander Fire Department Jul 14, 2008 Rhinelander Rotarian Gina Scheuer presents Rhinelander Fire Chief Terry Williams a check in the amount of $500.00 to help support the department's fire prevention program. The donation will be used to purchase materials through the National Fire Safety Council, which in turn, are distributed to school age children, day care students and other community groups throughout the year. Also joining in the presentation is Rhinelander Rotary Club President Chris Lenard (right). Rotary Honors Joe Miazga Jul 7, 2008 Rhinelander Rotarians honored Joe Miazga for his 60 years of service to the club at the July 7, 2008 meeting. Joe is the longest serving member of the club. Bill Kingsbury is Recognized for his Service Jul 7, 2008 Current Rhinelander Rotary Club President, Chris Lenard, presents Rotarian Bill Kingsbury a plaque recognizing him for his year of service as President of the Rhinelander Rotary Club. Lenard took over as the new President at the Regular Club Meeting on July 7, 2008. RHS Students Attend RYLA Conference Jun 30, 2008 Four Rhinelander High School students joined the Rhinelander Rotary Club for its weekly meeting on June 30, 2008. They shared their experiences from the RYLA Conference at Camp Manitowish in Boulder Junction. They learned about leadership, teamwork, building trust, and using eachother's strengths. Rotary Presents Judy Swank with Paul Harris Award Jun 23, 2008 Rotary recognizes Judy Swank for her commitment to our community through her work with silent sports facilities to promote health and outdoor enjoyment in the Northwoods and for her service to youth through coaching and sponsoring international exchange students. Judy exemplifies the Rotary ideal of “service above self” and the Rhinelander Rotary club is proud to award Judy Swank the Paul Harris Fellowship. The $1,000 contribution in Judy’s name will support humanitarian projects throughout the world. Rhinelander City Hall Centennial Project Donation Jun 2, 2008 Former Rhinelander Mayor, and current Rotarian, Kevin Jenkins (center) presents a check for $500 on behalf of the Rhinelander Rotary Club to Major Dick Johns (right) in support of Rhinelander City Hall’s Centennial Project. Northwoods Saves Donation Jun 2, 2008 Rotarian Al Ruetten presents a check for $500 to Corinne Michniak, Executive Director of Northwoods Saves. The contribution was made by the Rhinelander Rotary Club to assist with the ongoing efforts of the organization to offer financial counseling to Northwoods residents. Rhinelander Area Food Pantry Donation Jun 2, 2008 Rotarian Kevin Jenkins presents a check in the amount of $2,000 to Guy Hansen, Executive Director of the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry. The contribution was made by the Rhinelander Rotary Club to assist the food pantry in helping to reduce hunger in the Rhinelander area.
